Posted on 10/15/2018
Parent Access to Canvas -Standards Based CoursesDuring the 2017-2018 school year, select initial implementation teachers of English Language Arts and World Language courses in grades 7-9 utilized a standards-based instruction and assessment model. Now during the 2018-2019 year, we will fully implement the work that was initiated last year in these respective courses and additional courses have begun initial implementation this year. These courses include select sections of ELA 10, World History, AP World History, Art Survey, Biology, Life Science, Algebra 1 and additional World Language courses. Students in these classes should have received the Canvas Initial Implementation Letter.

Your child's instructional program is now available to you in AASD’s learning management program known as Canvas. As a parent/guardian, you are registered as an "observer." This means you will see everything your students sees in Canvas. Canvas will provide grade-book information as well as updates on upcoming and/or late assignments, the calendar of activities for the course and even insight into the content shared with the students.

To set up your Canvas Parent account, please follow these directions. Additionally, there is a Parent Canvas app available in the Apple & Android app stores.

Accessing Your Student’s Learning Through Canvas
In an effort to simplify the learning process for students and support the learning process for parents, AASD classes are on a common learning management system (LMS) - Canvas.  Canvas is the platform for all course work, exchanging of course materials/resources, and all assessment of student learning.
