National Hispanic Heritage MonthThe East community is looking forward to celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month! East students and staff will have the opportunity to celebrate by participating in the following activities

Cooking Class
Date: October 4th  
Time: On the AASD FB page and DEI web page 
Place: Virtual
Event Description:  Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by spicing up your menu with the rich culinary influence of flavors. Cooking and eating is a great way to explore Latino culture and history. Come take part in a virtual cooking class where you will learn how to make authentic Latin American cuisine.

Loteria To EAST Latino Club  
Date: October 14th  
Time: 12:17 – 1:04 pm 
Place: EAST Conference room  
Event Description:  Lotería, a bingo game that's over one hundred years old! Have fun, win prizes and enjoy a Mexican meal 

Salsa Night
Date: October 18th  
Time: 5:00pm – 6:30pm 
Place: East back commons  
Event Description: Join us for a free dance lesson and celebrate with an evening of Salsa! This will be a chance to celebrate, dance and learn about culture.  No dance experience required.

Life through the Hispanic lens of the LGBTQ community. 

Date: October 25th  
Time: 1:09- 1:56 pm 
Place: EAST Auditorium  
Event Description: Latino and LGBTQ + Intersectionality Roundtable. This event will be a roundtable featuring a panel made up of representatives of LGBTQ+ organizations. The concept of intersectionality and what it means to be both LGBTQ+ and Latino will be explored, allowing members of each community and allies to learn how to advocate for those communities.
