Matt Mineau

Mr. Mineau grew up in Marshfield, WI. He went on to become a Badger and a proud member the UW Marching Band. After attending UW Madison and the University of Minnesota, Mr. Mineau began teaching Social Studies in Burnsville High School in Minnesota. He went on to teach in Brookfield WI at Brookfield Central High School and in Green Bay WI at Green Bay Preble High School. In all locations he also coached Football, Basketball, and Track.  

Mr. Mineau later become an Associate Principal at Green Bay East High School, and then the associate principal at Appleton East High School and principal of Tesla Engineering Charter School. Mr. Mineau has been the principal at Appleton East and Appleton eSchool since 2011.

Mr. Mineau’s family is his rock. He and his wife Leah have three children, Keaton who is eleven, Owen who is eight, and Emma who is five. Together they love to travel, attend and play at sporting events, and spend time with friends and family.  

Mr. Mineau loves the East Community and is proud to be a Patriot. With the visions “Learn Today, Create Our Tomorrow”  and “Every Child Every Day,” Mr. Mineau along with the rest of the East Community, continues to create a learning environment where students are excited to come to school because they are able to personalize their own learning to become kind, passionate, wise, thoughtful individuals.  

Jacque Smedberg
Associate Principal

Jacquline Smedberg

Ms. Smedberg grew up in Appleton and is a proud graduate of Appleton East High School. She attended UW Stevens Point where she earned her teaching degree in regular and special education. After beginning her career with the AASD in 2006 at Roosevelt Middle School, she earned her Masters of Education in Reading through UW Oshkosh. She has served as a regular and special education teacher, a building instructional coach, and as Secondary District Instructional Coach. She earned her Principal and Director of Instruction License from eduCATE-WI. 

While not at school, Ms. Smedberg enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her two daughters are her pride and joy. Together, they enjoy traveling, going up north, and being on the water.

Ms. Smedberg is honored to serve as Associate Principal and as Principal of Tesla Engineering Charter School. Ensuring high levels of learning for all students as well as ensuring students feel a true sense of belonging to the East community is a value she holds in the highest regard. When students leave East, she hopes they feel as proud as she does to say, "Once a Patriot, always a Patriot."

Alexandra Molitor

Ms. Molitor grew up in Appleton and is an AASD graduate, graduating from Appleton West High School. She went on to earn her teaching degree at UW Madison and started her teaching career at Roosevelt Middle School here in Appleton. She taught seventh grade humanities at Roosevelt Middle school and later Kaleidoscope Academy. She also served as the Dean of Students at Badger Elementary. Ms. Molitor earned her Masters of Administration through UW Milwaukee, and 2018 will be her first year as Associate Principal at Appleton East High School.

When Ms. Molitor is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. A former track and cross country athlete and coach, she still enjoys running and competing in local running races and triathlons. Yoga is another one of her passions. She is always in the middle of at least a few books, and also enjoys traveling around Wisconsin.

Ms. Molitor is proud to be a Patriot, and is excited to add to Appleton East’s rich legacy of creating life-long learners. She strongly values creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and welcomed, as this allows everyone to achieve a high level of success.

Tim Zachow

Mr. Zachow received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin -Whitewater. He received his master’s degree from Winona State University. He taught special education in Park Falls, WI for five years and was the Assistant Principal at Wilmot Union High School for two years before coming to the Appleton School District.  

He has been an administrator in the AASD for 18 years. Mr. Zachow was the Assistant Principal responsible for Student Services at East High School for five years and has been the Activities/Athletic Director at East for the past 13 years. He has a wonderful, supportive family made up of his wife Carrie and two children Zachary and Summer.
