Clubs 

Co-curricular activities operate for the benefit of the student and the school. By participating in clubs and other organized activities students become active members of Appleton East High School, and it demonstrates their interest in making their school the best possible school to attend.


Anime Club - 9-12

Anime club meets weekly to share the love of anime by watching, discussing, and enjoying both of what is new and classic about anime. Anime club is open to all and is a great place to see what anime is all about!

Bio Diesel - 9-12

Advisor: Mr. Worley
Over the course of this year, Bio-Diesel club has installed new rear fenders on the club’s truck, made a new flat bed for the truck, and has almost all of the wiring done for the bio-diesel generator.

Bridging the Gap - 9-12

Advisor :Mr. Mineau
Bridging the Gap is a selective group of Juniors and Seniors who wish to Bridge the Gap between generations by working with the residents at the Heritage Assisted Living Home. We hold numerous events; Senior Prom, Bingo Nights, the Snowball dance.

Chess Club - 9-12

Advisor: Mr.Palma
In our first official year as a competitive chess club, members have entered several tournaments with great success. Students regularly play games and advance their skills in the greatest longest lasting game of all time. Next year we hope to expand the team to join a local Wisconsin league that will have many matches throughout the year.

Curling Club - 9-12
Advisor: Mr. ArmstrongThe Appleton Curling Club has its most successful year yet! We had around forty students, from four different High Schools (Appleton East, Appleton West, Appleton North, and Kimberly), build their skills and compete in our second conference season. Teams play every Tuesday at the Appleton Curling Club, and some have the opportunity to travel around the state competing with other High Schools at Junior Bonspiel (Tournaments) events.

Debate - 9-12

The Appleton East debate team won the state championship in policy debate and Congressional debate in the 2012-2013 season. Appleton East also had a teams in the semifinals and the quarterfinals of the WDCA state tournament in the 2012-2013 season. Appleton East is also the only team ever in WDCA history to have teams in all 3 divisions of debate in elimination rounds at the state tournament. In the 2011-2012 season they were the runner up in policy debate.

DECA - 9-12

The Appleton East DECA Chapter is responsible for beginning the Big Apple Classic in November 2009. Our chapter prepare emerging leaders & entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, & management. We focus on competition, community service, & having fun! Appleton East DECA hold/participates the following community service events: Trick-or-Can, Fall Yard Clean Up, MDA basketball game, bell ringing for Salvation Army, the Polar Plunge, MDA Muscle Walk. Our chapter competes locally, statewide, and internationally. Last year we had three top ten competitors in the world.

Drones - 9-12

Drone Venture is a new competition developed by EAA and FVTC. At each competition teams of students will fly an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), aka Drone, to complete a series of challenges.

Equality Club - 9-12

Equality Club is a student organization at Appleton East High School dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community. We support people of any and all genders and/or sexualities, and raise awareness for community issues and visibility. One of our greatest goals is to make our school and community a more inclusive place for LGBTQ+ people everywhere.

NEW Apple Corps Robotics (FIRST Robotics Team 93) 9-12

Appleton East is home to NEW Apple Corps Robotics (FIRST Robotics Team 93), which is composed of students from Appleton East, Appleton North and Appleton West High Schools. Any student from an Appleton Area School District high school, charter school, or home school is eligible to join.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes 9-12

Advisor: Mr. Walker
Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ.

Fishing Club - 9-12

Forensics - 9-12

Appleton East Forensics team won state titles from 1992 through 1997, and in 1999. It won the Wisconsin state championship in the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches Association Tournament of 2005 and 2013, and the co-championship with James Madison Memorial High School in 2006. The Appleton East Forensics and Debate programs won the Bruno E. Jacobs award at the 2012 National Forensic League National Tournament in Indianapolis.

Hmong Club - 9-12

Advisor: Ms.Lee
The mission of the Appleton East Hmong Club is to provide opportunities for its members to get involved and to become active at school and out in the communities. When necessary, students shall be given opportunities to promote cultural awareness and understanding through presentations, shows, food, etc.

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) - 9-12

Advisor: Mrs. Sturdivant/Mrs. Herrick
Members of HOSA are interested in pursuing a post-secondary career in the healthcare field. This club provides opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students.

International Club - 9-12

International club celebrates world cultures. Our goal is to increase our understanding of the world while socializing and having fun through music, games, and food.

Key Club

Key Club International is an organization in which high school students can plan and participate in community service projects, operating in partnership with the Kiwanis Club.This is a great opportunity for students to gain leadership experience and service hours!

Link Crew - 9 (Leaders 11 & 12)

Advisors: Ms. Murphy, Mrs. Lonechild, Mrs. Platt and Ms.Nilsson: Link Crew is made up of upper classmen who have applied and been appointed to the position. Link Crew upperclassmen strive to design activities/events that will engage freshman. The purpose is to make the transition from middle to high school smooth and inviting.

Literary Club - 9-12

The Literary Club celebrates writing, reading and art. Club members: host book clubs, coordinate writers’ workshops, share poetry, and promote our school’s literary magazine, Letters from the 4th Floor. We sponsor the Patriot Pen Award which is a cash prize awarded for writing and art submitted to our magazine!

Math Team - 9-12

Advisor: Mr. Palma
The math team travels to compete against other area schools. We enjoy a nice dinner followed by a few really fun questions!

National Honor Society (NHS) - 11-12

National Honor Society is the nation’s oldest, largest, and most prestigious student recognition program. Membership in the Appleton East Chapter of the National Honor Society is earned through effective demonstration of the four qualities that serve as standards for the Society -Scholarship (3.5 GPA or higher), Character, Leadership, and Service.

Newspaper (Courier) - 9-12

Advisor: Mr. Otis
The Courier is Appleton East’s best-selling and most widely read student newspaper: in print and online. The Courier incorporates investigative, informative, and editorial articles to inform the student body about the events, opinions and people around Appleton East High School and its community.

Patriot Peers - 9-12

Advisor: Ms. Klitzke
Peers club consists of any high school student who wants to help support other peers. They go into elementary and middle schools to help educate the younger Patriots about tobacco use and the effects of tobacco. We are hoping to introduce more activities next year.

Pep Club - 9-12

Advisor: Ms. Murphy
Students who are involved in Pep Club help plan activities for the Pep Rallies. Pep Club students also decorate and “undecorate” the gym for the Pep Rallies.

Quidditch - 9-12

Advisor: Ms. Leavitt
What is Quidditch? A contact sport inspired by the Harry Potter series that has grown to over 300 teams in over 20 countries! Join us for some fun in this unique, competitive and creative sport at Appleton East!

Rock Climbing - 9-12

We are a recreational club offering students opportunities for both indoor and outdoor climbing.

Stand Up - 9-12

Advisor: Mr. Schwanke
Stand Up is a youth-led movement working towards the eradication of interpersonal violence through education and discussion. Meeting topics include leadership and dating violence. Stand Up is open to all students and is always accepting new members. Be the change. Join the movement!

Student Council/Principal Advisory

The purpose of the Student Congress is to assist in directing co-curricular activities to maintain esprit de corps, to familiarize students with administrative policies, to better the school, and to assist the student in any way possible. Student representatives are elected in their administrative period, thus the student congress represents the entire student body.
